The Tom and Jerry coin is a part of the Cartoon Characters series from the Mint of Poland. This series of coins was created especially for collectors who remember these well know cartoon characters.

On the reverse side of your coin, the images of Tom and Jerry are depicted in relief. Next to it, the colourful image of the cartoon characters and the inscription: TOM AND JERRY. Between them, the stylized image of a film reel with the scenes. On the obverse, the stylized image of a film reel with the scenes featuring the fantastic cartoon characters. Along the edge is the inscription: ELIZABETH II, and on the right: 1 dollar, the mint mark: MW, and at the bottom is the inscription Niue Island, and the year 2013.

    The Blue Nawab or Polyura schreiber is a butterfly which is mainly found in Singapore but also in other tropical areas in Asia. The colourful insect stands out with its eye catching pattern and a wingspan of up to 115 mm.
    The green caterpillars are particularly remarkable. They weave a silk resting place on a few leaves of the plant they inhabit. This is where they rest during the day, in order to recover from their nightly feasting tours.

    In Greek mythology, Nike was invited to live on Mount Olympus by Zeus, the king of the gods, as a reward for being his charioteer during the Titan War. Guiding Zeus’s horses through the battlefields, she is said to have bestowed fame and glory in the form of laurel wreaths on his victorious army. Since classical times, artists have often portrayed Nike as a winged figure symbolising victory in both war and peaceful competition.

    The coin’s outstanding high relief reverse depicts Nike in Art Deco style. Honouring an unseen hero with a victory laurel in the palm of her right hand, Nike’s muscular figure is enveloped in a beautifully symmetrical representation of feathered wings. Also included on the reverse is the inscription WINGED VICTORY and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
