2€ commemorative coin Estonia 2017 - Estonian road to independence
The 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia falls in 2018. But the state was not founded in a single day. Estonia gained autonomy after the February Revolution in Russia in 1917 when the province of Estonia was established. On 1 July 1917 the first representative parliament of the Estonian people, known as Maapäev, assembled. It declared itself the highest organ of power in Estonia on 15 November 1917. It was a big step towards statehood.

The design for the €2 commemorative coin depicts oak leaves, bare oak branches, and the trunk of an oak tree. The winding oak symbolises Estonia’s road to independence; the bare branches relate to the year 1917; and the leaves symbolise strength, achievement, and longevity, and also feature on the great coat of arms of the Republic of Estonia. The word MAAPÄEV (Assembly) is placed to the lower left of the main design.

The Estonian Provincial Assembly (Estonian: Maapäev) was elected after the February Revolution in 1917 as the national diet of the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia in Russian Empire. On November 28, 1917, after the October Revolution the Assembly declared itself the sovereign power on Estonia and called for the elections of the Estonian Constituent Assembly. On the eve of the German occupation of Estonia in World War I the council elected the Estonian Salvation Committee and issued the Estonian Declaration of Independence on February 24, 1918. After the German occupation of Estonia ended, the Maapäev continued as the legislative assembly of Estonia until 1919.

Austria keisririik asutati 11. augustil 1804, kaks aastat enne (Saksa Rahva) Püha Rooma riigi lõppemist, viimase ühise Saksa keisri, Franz II pärandatava monarhiana. Austria keisririik võttis üle Saksa-Rooma riigi sümbolid: musta-kuldse lipu ja kahepealise kotka. Kotka rinnasildile lisati üksnes Habsburgide-Lotringite dünastia vapp. Franz Joseph sündis Viin-Schönbrunnis 18. augustil 1830. aastal ja tema ema, Baieri printsess ertshertsoginna Sophie kasvatas teda juba lapsest peale valitsejaks. Keisrinna Elisabethi („Sissi”) hilisem abikaasa asus troonile juba 18-aastaselt. Temast pidi saama kõige pikema valitsusajaga monarhiriigi keiser.

Franz Joseph I valitsusajal, 1854. aastal, viidi ellu esimene mündireform ja kaaluti kuldvääringu kasutuselevõttu Austrias, mida toetas finantsminister vabahärra von Bruck. 1855. aastal lasi viimane valmistada Viinis (mündil tähis „A”) kullaproovid 5-, 10- ja 20-kuldnale.

„Centén” on hispaaniakeelne nimetus haruldastele kuldmüntidele, mida vermiti 100-kordses väärtuses tavaliste müntide kujul.
Tegemist on suure kuldmündiga (läbimõõt ligikaudu 71 mm) 100 eskuudo väärtuses ja originaalkaaluga ligikaudu 338 grammi, mille Hispaania kuningas Felipe III (1598–1621) lasi 1609. aastal Segovias vermida.
„Centéni” esiküljel on kõigi Hispaania kuningavõimu alla kuuluvate piirkondade vapikilp.

Ainus allesjäänud münt asub praegu kuulsa Smithsonia Institute´i mündikogus. Kolmas partii, teadaolevalt kokku 6 eksempalri vermiti aastal 1859 või 1860.

Viimati vahetas aastaarvu 1804 kandev hõbedollar omanikku 1999. aastal oksjonil enam kui 4 miljoni USA dollari eest. Seda hinda arvestades on "Dexter" dollar praegu kalleim hõberaha maailmas!

Illusioon? - Mõnikord me vaevalt suudame uskuda oma silmi. Kuid mõnikord see esmane mulje on väga segane. Me peame kõigepealt vaimselt seedima, mida nägime - eksprompt. Ainult teise pilguga me mõistame, et pilt koosneb erinevatest kihtidest ja üksikasjadest.
Šveitsi kunstnik Sandro del Prete (* 1931) meistril on optiline illusioonist joonistus stiil, mida ta nimetatakse "Illusorismuseks". Üks tema mõistatuslike piltide tegelasi on Don Quijote kuulsast romaanist Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616).
Mida sa näed suure kiivri all?

Kuulsaks said ennekõike Ateenast, Vana-Kreeka kõige tähendusrikkamast linnast pärit öökullimotiiviga hõbedrahmid. Sarnaselt uusversiooniga oli nende müntide esiküljel kujutatud Zeusi tütre ja Ateena linna kaitsejumalanna Athena kiivrit kandvat pead. Tagakülge ehtis Ateena linnriigi vapilinnuna tuntuks saanud öökull. Kõige väärtuslikum 10-drahmine originaalmünt müüdi 1974. aastal oksjonil rekordilise hinnaga enam kui 800 000 Šveitsi franki.

Fall of Berlin Wall - 1 Dollar .999 Silver coin Tuvalu 2009 (proof)
The fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 was undoubtedly one of the most memorable events of the late 20th century. East and West Germans joined in wild celebrations, their euphoria marking the end of the Cold War amid renewed hope for the reunification of their country.

The coin’s reverse portrays a stylised representation of the number 20, which separates a coloured image of the sky featuring a peace dove, and a close-up interpretation of the Berlin Wall. As well as depicting Germany’s symbolic Brandenburg Gate, the design also includes the inscription FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL NOVEMBER 9TH 1989 and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

The coin, which is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, portrays the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of these coins.
